Day 1: Fly to Lalibela - Visit the First Group of Rock-Hewn Churches
Morning flight to Lalibela, the “New Jerusalem” of Ethiopia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you 23 km to the town of Lalibela for hotel check-in and refreshment.
After lunch, visit the Northern Group of churches, including:

Bete Medhane Alem — the world’s largest monolithic church, home of the Lalibela Cross

Bete Maryam — considered the oldest church in Lalibela

Bete Golgotha — known for its sacred art and said to contain the tomb of King Lalibela

Selassie Chapel and the Tomb of Adam
Explore the interconnected passages and courtyards that bring history and spirituality to life. Overnight in Lalibela.
Day 2: Visit the Second & Third Groups of Churches - Fly to Addis Ababa
After breakfast, enjoy a mule ride or hike to the 13th-century Asheton Maryam Monastery, dramatically located high in the mountains with panoramic views.
After lunch, continue with the remaining rock-hewn churches:

Bete Giyorgis (St. George) — the most iconic and perfectly preserved of Lalibela’s churches, carved in the shape of a Greek cross
Eastern Group

Bete Amanuel — believed to have been the former royal chapel
